Kanye Continuing His Fashion Dream With Rumoured 100-Piece Unisex Collection

We admire the boy’s dedication. After being slammed during two Paris Fashion Weeks last year, Kanye West is slowly but surely regaining some traction on his fledgling fashion career. Only last week did sales reports show that his logo-less capsule collection (a very concise seven pieces: hoodie, jeans, t-shirt etc) for French brand A.P.C. had flown out of stores.
Today rumours are swirling – via spies on New York’s Page Six - that the style-conscious rapper will be combining his new Daddy duties with prepping a unisex fashion line under his eponymous label. Kanye has apparently been designing in Milan for a week… although taking into account that this recent success was two years in the making and the comments made by A.P.C’s Jean Touitou (see below), by now we predict that maybe one sock has been perfected at this stage. The collection may include as many as 100 pieces, all of which will apparently be presented during September's fashion week, so KW and crew better get a move on…
“When you deal with a guy who wants to redesign just about anything so it could fit [into the] ‘kingdom of dopeness,’ it takes some time to just . . . say, ‘OK, agreed, but let’s get started on something limited, and we’ll see.’ “ explained Touitou to Style.com recently.So what could we expect of the man who claims: “Visiting my mind is like visiting the Hermes factory. Shit is real,” And that, “Fashion breaks my heart”? Well, Page Six hears that he has a power-team of industry figures, including Diesel’s Nicola Formichetti, on board. Hopefully he’ll take a hint from the simplicity and street-ready urbanity of his A.P.C venture.Kanye doesn’t need to reinvent the LBD or do sculptures disguised as shoes or vice versa, what he can do is maximise on the cool personal style he already has – Givenchy printed tees, fresh sneaks, leather trousers. Ok, the leather trousers are up for debate. But if ‘Yeezus’ could take a leaf out of his own book, then maybe those tills will keep ringing. After all, A.P.C. are now rushing to produce more goods to fulfil pre-orders.
One final thought: could Kim and Kanye soon step up their matchy-matchy looks with genuine identical articles? Could they both star in a campaign? Oooh.
